Protection of Power

This picture very much intrigues me. It seems to be all about the protection of power. An empty field of sand. Car tracks. An SUV, probably armoured. Security officers standing in circles around the Man in Power. Watching out. For whom? No ordinary people anywhere in sight.

The man in the middle is Guinese president Alpha Condé. The man protecting him with an umbrella is lieutenant-colonel Mamady Doumbouya. Who ousted the president on this sunny Sunday morning, September the 4th. Et tu, Brute.
