Maar dit filmpje van minister-president Michael Kretschmer van Saksen ter gelegenheid van de Dag der Duitse eenheid doet mij wel goed. Hij houdt een positief verhaal en noemt de Oost-Duitsers de winnaars van de Duitse eenheid. Oost-Duitsland heeft veel aan de hereniging gehad.
Op 9 november 2009, twintig jaar na de Val van de Muur, schreef ik een blogje over de Duitse hereniging. In discussies over Ossies en Wessies beweerde ik altijd dat de hereniging veertig jaar zou duren: net als voor de Israëlieten in de woestijn op weg naar het Beloofde Land gaat er een generatie overheen. Dat blogje heb ik vandaag nog eens herlezen en ik voeg het hierbij, met voor vrienden ook links naar de Duitse en Engelse vertaling.
Monday October 3 is the Day of German Unity, Tag der deutschen Einheit. On October 3, 1990, East and West Germany merged together as one country. The economic and social problems are still great, especially in East Germany, and some are longing back for the past.
But still, I like this video by Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer of Saxony on the occasion of the Day of German Unity. He tells a positive story and calls the East Germans the winners of the German unity. East Germany has benefited greatly from the reunification.
On November 9, 2009, twenty years after the Fall of the Wall, I wrote a blog about the German reunification.
